Sometimes, only because I just really enjoyed that new way of looking at the scene or the characters. And while there have been quite a few invented scenes in adaptations that aren’t true to the overall vision of the novel, there have been some that I feel enhance it. I generally think that the best thing to do when adapting a book is to stick to the scenes in the book, but I know that with a different medium, there must be changes to the way the story is told and sometimes adding a new scene can help the visual better than the way the book describes it.
